If you’re fit and you love to cycle this is the ideal tour for you. Brought to you by Bike Company and Iceland Buddies this trip will take you Eyjafjallajökull and the surrounding areas. Eyjafjallajökull is the infamous volcano that erupted in 2010, disrupting the European aviation industry. The south side of the volcano was once on the coast but the coastline has retreated and left behind cliffs and waterfalls forming landscapes of exquisite beauty.
At the start of the day, we will pack you up at your hotel in Reykjavik and take you to Bike Company headquarters where you will be matched with your fat bike. We’ll start off our trip at two of Iceland’s loveliest waterfalls Gljúfrabúi and Seljalandsfoss. You can walk into the cavern behind Seljalandsfoss if you don’t mind getting wet and see the landscape from a different perspective. Gljúfrabúi is not as famous as her sister, and you have to walk through a canyon to get to it. You will require waterproof clothing as it makes quite a splash.
We’ll provide you with a picnic lunch and then end the day with a relaxing soak in a geothermal pool. After which we will return you to your hotel at about six o’clock.
Dress warmly, with good shoes and don’t forget your swimsuit and towel. After a long day on your bike, you’re going to love the soak in the pool.
Your personal equipment Participants need to be prepared for wide-ranging weather conditions. Expect the temperature to dip down to below -5°C ( 20°F) and up to 5-15°C (40-60°F). Bring a small backpack, warm clothing, winter gear, good outdoor shoes and warm gloves. Don‘t forget your swimming suit and a towel. We end the day by dipping into a warm geothermal pool.
