This magical tour combines two of Iceland’s most exciting attractions, on land and out to sea: whale watching and the Golden Circle route. You will have the opportunity to explore the birthplace of the Icelandic nation, the geologically and historically stunning Þingvellir, the incomparable “Golden Waterfall” Gulfoss, and the notorious geyser whose name, Stóri Geysir, gave birth to the very name of the spouting geothermal phenomenon. Before that, you will head out to the Arctic seas where you can witness the majestic power of the ocean’s gentle giants in courtesy of Extreme Iceland and Iceland Buddy.
You will be picked up from your hotel or guesthouse between 8:15 and 8:45 a.m., so make sure you’re up bright and early! You will then take to the seas just off of Reykjavík’s Old Harbour, where you’ll primarily explore the southern part of the Flaxaflói bay. Iceland’s waters are teeming with Arctic marine life, and over twenty different species of whales make their home off the shores of the island year-round. You can count on an excellent day of sighting! Next, you will embark along the world-famous Golden Circle route. During this adventure you will have the opportunity to enjoy several interesting detours, including the Geothermal Exhibition at the Hellisheidi Power Plant, the majestic Faxi waterfall, and the shockingly crimson-red crater Kerid. The second half of the tour will take place via minibus.
This tour operates in small groups and lasts for approximately twelve hours. All you need are warm clothes and sturdy shoes. Happy adventuring!
